Saranda is located opposite the Greek island of Corfu, and characterized by a Mediterranean climate and warm sea waters. Saranda typically has over 300 sunny days a year. Therefore, it is best to hike up the Castle of Lekursi in the later afternoon to avoid the burning sun. I joined my new hostel mate to hike over one hour up to the castle to enjoy the panoramic views of Saranda Bay below, the inland mountains, the Butrint Lagoon and the island of Corfu on the Ionian Sea. — checked in to Castel of Lekursi with Samantha.
