Florence Museums

After freshly baked pizza for lunch, we went back and got into in 10 minutes (super lucky without 3 hrs wait or pay for reservation) Piazzale degli Uffizi, One of the world's most famous fine art museums with collections of Renaissance paintings and sculptures from classical antiquity. Included is The Birth of Venus by Sandro Boticelli. We went back to cover the Duomo cathedral, the underground archeological museum, and Florebce baptistery. At the end of the afternoon, we rewarded ourselves with the best ice cream from the oldest store if Florence (1939). — checked in to Uffizi Art Gallery.

We went back to the Duomo plaza to climb up 600+ steps to the top of the bell tower to enjoy the view of the cathedral dumb and the city, and then visited the duomo museum for the original doors and statues from the cathedral. The 15 euros covered five facilities was quite a bargain, and we were lucky to finish all of them within 48 hours. — checked in to Piazza del Duomo.

We toured the South bank of the Arno River (crossing Florence) including Piazzale Michelangelo on a hilltop with a great view of the city, San Miniato al Monte (a Sacristy contains frescoes by Spinello Aretino and graves of famous people of Florence, including Carlo Lorenzi (Collodi) - author of the famous Pinocchio,
Pitti Palace (a former Medici family palace contains galleries of amazing art and treasures, and the Boboli gardens behind the palazzo offer wonderful walks and excellent views of the city and the countryside south of the city. We rushed through the Palace to get back to the B&B and rescued our clothes from the rain coming in the late afternoon. — checked in to Piazza Michelangelo.
