About 10 of us from the hostel took a 50-min bus ride to visit the beautiful canyon. Matka (Macedonian meaning "womb") is a canyon located west of Skopje, Macedonia. Covering roughly 5,000 hectares and as popular outdoor destinations in Macedonia, it is home to several medieval monasteries. Two of us spent 7€ per person to take boat to see a cave, and the rest of us walked 10 km round trip walk to the end of the path across the canyon from the cave to see the views for free (except the cave). One hostel mate Kayaked 3-HR to check out the stream yesterday. One of us was brave enough to jump dive into the cannon, yet I only soaked my feet into the freezing cold water for a few minutes in the stream. One couple planned to take the boat just across the cannon to hike up to st. Nicholas Monastery located on a cliff above the canyon, but changed their mind.
