I
invited a hostel mate Jo to take a 2-HR free food tour in the
afternoon. We were late and the guide told us to come back another day
since only 15 spots available. I suggested we following the group
without tasting; nevertheless, the big group mostly trainees of Synergy
Bulgaria (including Anne) kindly shared the bits with us, so we ended up
with full experience! We tasted Tarator (a cold soup made
from yoghurt, water, cucumbers, garlic), Lutenitsa (a red pepper,
aubergine and tomato purée on bread), Pelin (fruit wine), verious cheese
on bread, organic sandwiches, etc.
— checked in to National Theatre with Anne Marij. If you works with youth, you can apply with Synergy Bulgaria to visit Sofia for self-improvement and leadership training for free. Beside the tasting food, I learned that the three color of Bulgaria flag representing cheese, cucumber and tomatoes, Bulgaria barter trading tamatoes with Sweden for ABBA albums, Bulgarian yogurt giving long life to many Bulgarians including a 104 yr-old bagger who donated a lot of $ to non-profits and featured by CNN, etc. |
